About Me
I am trained as a social psychologist and statistician, but I have been doing primarily visual sociology for the past five years. I am also a visual artist and musician. I have been in the Sociology Department at Brooklyn College since 1997.
My research interests include social semiotics, American public discourse, and visual ethnography of urban neighborhoods. My teaching interests include research methods, visual sociology, and the sociology of science and technology. I am currently working on a book manuscript about immigrant neighborhoods in Brooklyn and Paris.
